LEARNING OBJECTIVES

ICYMI: Teens in rural areas have persistently had higher tobacco use rates than non-rural teens. Unlike the tobacco industry, which has developed multiple brands exclusively for rural audiences, tobacco prevention efforts tend to target all teens at once with a single teen campaign, limiting their ability to be tailored and responsive to the unique lifestyles, values, and culture of rural teens.

This webinar will focus on understanding the unique characteristics of rural teens that must be incorporated into targeted and tailored rural teen prevention efforts to begin to close the tobacco use gap.

In this 1-hour webinar, you will:

  • Learn what makes rural teens different from urban and suburban teens including their unique lifestyles, values, and culture.
  • Understand how rural teens interpret tobacco prevention messages differently from other teens.
  • See examples of rural teen tobacco prevention messages that have been tested with rural teens across multiple states.
