NY OASAS June 2024 Webinar Banner 2

BACKGROUND

Teens today are navigating a complex landscape of conflicting signals surrounding cannabis use. With the legalization of adult-use cannabis spreading across the United States, coupled with the widespread availability of medical cannabis in many states, teens encounter contrasting narratives about its risks and benefits. While they may receive warnings about the detrimental effects of cannabis on youth brain development in school, they are also exposed to portrayals of its benefits by celebrities and social media influencers. This conflicting information leaves teens unsure about what to believe and how to evaluate the true risks and consequences of engaging in underage cannabis use.
