BACKGROUND
The passage of Proposition 64 changed the cannabis landscape in California. California data shows that the perceived harm of youth cannabis use has declined, which historically has been associated with an increase in use (17th Biennial State California Healthy Kids Survey, 2017-2019). Based on this landscape, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has made efforts to create a positive behavior change for youth ages 13-17 regarding underage cannabis use.
WEBINAR OVERVIEW
This session introduces the CDPH Substance and Addiction Prevention Branch’s (SAPB) new Youth Cannabis Education and Prevention Media Campaign that educates both youth and adult audiences (e.g., parents/guardians, mentors, local health departments, community-based organizations, and partners) on the risks of underage cannabis use.
In this one-hour webinar, you will:
- Gain an understanding of the current California campaigns for youth (Mind Over Marijuana) and parents/guardians (Let’s Talk Cannabis).
- Be introduced to materials for local use based on CDPH’s community needs outreach efforts.
- Learn how you can play a part to positively impact youth in your community.
