Addressing Youth Cannabis Use & Adult Influence
The passage of Proposition 64 changed the cannabis landscape in California. National data shows more youth are becoming susceptible to experimenting with cannabis and their perception of risks associated with cannabis use is declining (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2021). This session aims to discuss new and innovative strategies to educate both youth and adult audiences (e.g., mentors, local health departments, community-based organizations, and partners) on the risks of underage cannabis use and share information about the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) new and upcoming statewide youth cannabis education and prevention campaign.
